Frequently Asked Questions

Do I always need a technical education?

For this position, a mbo-tech strongly recommended (mechatronics/mechanics/metal). Without a degree, entry is sometimes possible via BBL or internal training - motivation and technical understanding are then key.

You mainly work mechanical (assembling, adjusting, testing). Companies appreciate additional knowledge of pneumatics/hydraulics/electricity - With that, you grow faster.

Both. You regularly assemble fine parts (precision), but also stand a lot and sometimes lift parts. Good work posture and aids help.

Measuring tools (calipers, micrometers), hand tools, torque wrenches, sometimes ESD tools and testing or calibration equipment.

Directions (senior) assembly, quality control/QA, prototyping, service/maintenance technician or team leader. Additional certifications (e.g. NEN/IPC, safety, electrical engineering) accelerate that.
