How do you become a warehouse worker?

For this position, you do not need specific training, but a intermediate vocational school level is helpful. Often you just learn the work in practice. Additional pluses:

  • A Forklift or reach truck certificate (sometimes obtainable through the employer)
  • Experience in logistics or warehouse work
  • Courses in safety (e.g., VCA)

Salary

As a Warehouse Worker, you will earn at least the legal hourly wage of €14.40 gross (21+, as of July 2025). The average salary is around €2,300 to €2,600 gross per month, depending on experience, shifts and sector. Supplements for evening, night and weekend shifts can significantly increase your salary.

Diploma

A specific degree is not required. However, a college education in logistics or warehouse management helps.

Number of hours

Typically, you will work full-time (36-40 hours per week). Part-time opportunities also occur, depending on the company.

Working Hours

Warehouses often rotate, so you will regularly work shifts. In some companies, day shift is the standard. For irregular shifts, you'll get bonuses.
